WAYS OF REDUCING AN ACCIDENT IN THE WORK PLACE

No one ever expects to be involved in an accident whether at home or even in the work place but nevertheless it can happen. This is because accidents get someone by surprise and unexpectedly. The accidents at work can however be reduced or their chances of taking place minimized by putting measures that provide some safety to the workers in the premise. This is done in many ways like putting notice signs informing workers of any dangers or things they need to look out for, direction signs and warning signs as well. There can also be handle bars to hold on to while walking up the stair cases or gloves to wear while handling toxic material as well as gas masks for that too. When an employer has put all the measures in place at the work place, they will have made the work place more secure even if not accident proof.
An accident can occur from other reasons such as hiring unqualified employees. Such employees when they are handling a machine that they are not skilled to can seriously bring harm to themselves or to other close employees. So, it is the duty of each employer to hire skilled staff members and to assign different tasks to only the qualified people. It is the duty of the employer to have insurance policy for the company. This is because in case of an accident, it is not the employer who should be paying the compensation claims made by the injured workers but the insurance company. This kind of insurance cover is known as Employers Liability Insurance and it is the one that covers accidents in the work place.
In case an accident happens in the work place and an employee or several employees are injured in the process, then some action should be taken. If the accident was not their fault at all, they should seek compensation from the Employers Liability Insurance cover. Their immediate supervisor should be notified of the accident or incident immediately as well so as to take record of it. the employees should seek medical attention soon to get treatment for any dangers they were exposed to in the accident.
