It all started because we had a new online quiz app that we wanted to promote. Previously when it came to internet marketing, I'd taken some SEO and email marketing training to learn how to promote my sites. I also learned how to use Twitter as a marketing tool.
I built in a tweet at the end of the app so that when you completed the quiz you could share your score right away on Twitter. Then we needed an incentive for people to find the app and take the quiz. I got in touch with one of the gurus of internet marketing Chris Brogan and asked him if he minded if we give away his book, Trust Agents, as a reward for people retweeting our quiz. Of course he didn't mind, but he was still cagey about whether he would promote the deal on his Twitter account. On the day we launched we watched as the new struggled to go viral. We posted it in as many places as possible and crossed our fingers that we would succeed. About four hours after we launched Chris Brogan tweeted that we were giving away his books to his 100,000 followers and we were immediately on our way. We saw traffic go crazy and generated huge publicity for a fraction of the cost of running a campaign with a PR company. We sent copies of Brogan's book to a bunch of people using Amazon and everyone was thrilled. When the books arrived, people tweeted the whole story all over again. It was the tweet that kept on tweeting. |

A prolific illustrator in his native Japan, Amano's primary claim to fame is the role playing series Final Fantasy. He was the chief designer for Square's first six games, and to this day continues to lend his hand, and his weighty reputation, to the characters now conceived by Tetsuya Nomura for the company, which now does business under the moniker of Square Enix. |

The fact that there are so many businesses that want to do their marketing online has turned out to be a bad idea to may of them. There has been lots of rumors going round about the best seo companies that you should work with. Have you seen those mosaic Facebook banners on profile pages on Facebook? You're allowed 5 thumbnail images at the top of your profile page - they represent the 5 most recent images you've uploaded to your photo gallery. You could upload 5 images that - when together from left to right - make a 5 piece mosaic that represents a banner. There are special banner makers out there that will do all this for you - cut up the images, and even upload them to your gallery on Facebook - but you have to think - what's the point? It's a gimmick, that's all it is. There's no real way to advertise a business on your profile page. Facebook force businesses to use their ad network - I'm not blaming Facebook really here as the social network wasn't initially intended for business - but let's not pretend we can make our profile page a proper business landing page. |
